January 2022

We are off to a great start in 2022 with the road closed again.
Checking in on the damage caused by heavy rain at the end of 2021. Large boulders and mud are on the road, making driving challenging.

Arborist and horticultural consultant Rebecca Latta is assessing our “grandpa” oak tree, which was severely damaged in the fire. Additionally, heavy Santa Ana winds in 2021 caused even more damage to the tree. We are concerned about the tree’s structural weakness. Do we need to remove the tree?

Talking about trees and wind.
On January 22nd, a severe windstorm knocked down another Eucalyptus tree.

A meeting with our architect, Tim McNamara, on the building side.

We are excited about getting closer to designing our house and submitting the first plans to the building department.

Moving forward with our landscape plans, we visited Matilija Nursery, one of the best places to shop for native plants. The owner, Bob, is an encyclopedia about California natives. It’s always inspiring to talk and learn from him.
