Planting oak trees from acorns?

There is an old saying that “Mighty oak trees from little acorns grow.”

We have collected over 200 fallen acorns so far and started planting 30+ in recycled pots from Trancas Canyon Nursery.

There are plenty of ways of doing this. We chose a simple technique of soaking the acorns overnight and then putting them in soil mixed with sand. We should see if this method works after a month or so. Hopefully, after one or two years, the young trees will be ready to plant in the ground. Many acorns were damaged by the California acorn weevil. Most likely they will fail to sprout

Advice from our local fire station crew.

We contacted our local fire station for advice on fire suppression equipment in the future. We appreciated seeing the fire truck on our property and the team’s assistance. Thanks to the Team from Station 72.

More damaged trees

We hoped the trees would recover from the damage, but unfortunately, the chainsaw noise continued.
